I am the academic leader, Audrey Au from 4B. I’m glad to have this opportunity to talk about studying smart and effectively with all of you in this short assembly.

First of all, how much time do you spend on lesson preparation? One hour or ten minutes or actually you don’t do lesson preparation at all? As we all know, it is hard to handle all the ten subjects in Form3. So, it is good for you to do lesson preparation for all subjects. You may ask – how to do lesson preparation? You may spend around thirty minutes to an hour studying the topic the night before having lessons. You may go to the Internet and do some research, find relevant information about the topic you are going to learn. If you do lesson preparation, you will have a clear idea of the topic. Therefore, when the teachers go through the topic too fast, you can still catch up with their teaching.

Besides lesson preparation, you should also ask questions if you don’t understand about the topic. Don’t hesitate, feel free to ask your teachers. They are kind and willing to answer all your questions. So don’t be afraid of them as they won’t scold you even if you ask questions frequently. Boys and girls, asking questions is very important to us. If you ask, at least you can ensure you understand all the learning materials. If you hesitate, you will be confused when you meet the similar problems again as you don’t know how to solve them. So, grab the chance to ask questions.

It is reasonable that you find it hard to handle all the subjects and keep your results well at the beginning of this year as I experienced the same situation last year. Do you know how I overcame this hurdle? Well, let me share my experience with you. At the beginning of my Form 3, I was very busy doing plenty of homework like Chinese, History, Physics, Biology – you name it! As I was not good at time management, I always finished my homework very late until – guess what? I bought a schedule book. I started to mark down what I had to do in the schedule book. With the help of it, I could have a clear idea of what to do. It’s just like a planner, which helped me to plan all the things in a day, a week or even a month. Boys and girls, this is the last piece of advice I’d like to give: use a schedule book. You will know what to do if you have one, like which subject you have to finish first, when to hand in the homework, when you will have quizzes, etc. By marking down and following the schedule, you can manage your time well. When you manage your time well, you can handle all ten subjects easily and study effectively.

Before I go, let me recap what I’ve shared: prepare before class, ask questions so that they won’t accumulate, manage your time with the help of a schedule book. Alright, just try your best to handle the ten subjects and of course, don’t give yourself too much pressure. I wish you all the best in this year. Thank You!

2015-16 4B Au Hoi Lam Audrey (1Speech Writing – studying smart and effectivelHello everybodyLet me introduce myself first.
