He is one of my most beloved people in my life and I still remember the time when we planted the tomatoes, walked through the narrow paths in our garden and listened to the tweeting of the birds. I can never forget the happy memories I have with Uncle John. You must be much more miserable than me. I hope that you could get over it soon.

Of course, we can’t get back Uncle from the arms of our Heavenly Father. Yet, his wish, which is to benefit others, will stay in the human world. It’s rare to see a person who is as kind and selfless as Uncle John and I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the people receiving his kind donation. I’d surely help fulfil his wish and I’ve already got a plan on how to use that one million dollar.

I’d like to donate half of the money to Oxfam to help the people living in Ethiopia. For the other half, I’d like to donate it to the Nature Conservancy to plant trees worldwide.

Ethiopia is suffering from the devastating drought, which leads to the worst food crisis ever in 30 years, putting 10 million people in hunger and diseases. They badly need food and water to continue their life. Furthermore, 500 thousand livestock the people keep have died and they need seeds to plant food and forages to feed the remaining animals. I’ve seen a photo of an Ethiopian child, who was emaciated and couldn’t stand still without the help of the others. I could hardly imagine how bitter their life is in Ethiopia.

Donating money to Oxfam can help change their plights beyond doubt. They’d use the money to give forages to people to feed the cattle and introduce some drought tolerant plants to them to grow. Besides, the money could be used to building wells and provide clean water for the people to use. We’ve got food to eat and clean places to live, the Ethiopian should also get the same things we have. If we donate money, we could bring hope and save their lives on the verge of death.

Besides, the widespread of drought in Ethiopia is actually due to the strongest El Niño Phenomenon ever in 30 years which is caused by the global warming. To reduce the content of carbon dioxide which is the particles that trap the heat from the sun, we could not only save the energy, but also plant trees.

Giving money to The Nature Conservancy can prevent the catastrophe brought by the El Niño Phenomenon. They would help plant trees worldwide. Trees can absorb carbon dioxide, as well as trapping the soil particles from being blown away and stop the erosion of wind that leads to desertification. If trees are plant in Ethiopia, it can provide litter to improve soil fertility, so that the Ethiopian can introduce crops which are easier to plant. It’s beneficial for the whole world. I remember that Uncle John hated to see the grey colour on the world surface and last year, we even participated in the Harbour Day and planted a tree together. If he knew my plan, he would definitely support me.

This’s the end of my plan. My family will pay you a visit next Sunday. I hope we can see you be happy again. Please keep in touch.

Yours

Elsa

3D Tan Yee Shan, ElsA Letter to AunHi AuntieHow are you? When I received the message about Uncle John, I was shocked and grieved that I cried for a long time.
