Selfies, the word seems to be harmless. The concept of the word is also harmless. But selfies can indeed be dangerous.<\/p>\n
When taking selfies, usually we just want to create memories of experiences. But some of us uses selfies as a tool to become famous. How? People use Instagram to upload photos and see if anyone will give a \u201clike\u201d or leave comments. But most importantly, it is to see if anyone would follow them.<\/p>\n
Nowadays people take selfies everywhere and usually would upload their photos onto Instagram. Why? Because they want attention and want to become \u201cinsta-famous\u201d. Many celebrities use Instagram to satisfy the curious minds of their fans while we, not famous ones, crave for attention because of the lack of security. They want to make sure that others know their existence. But after having followers, they start to lose sight of their own identity. They don\u2019t only care about existence at that stage but also popularity. They don\u2019t want their followers to unfollow them, so they change their styles and lose sight of themselves.<\/p>\n
Also, the dependence on the approval of others for our selfies is dangerous. When we only care about the \u201clikes\u201d and comments, we are very likely to be affected by others\u2019 negative comments. We may become emotional and cannot control our feelings.<\/p>\n
As people want to become \u201cinsta-famous\u201d to have a wider vision in their selfies, inventors took advantage of people\u2019s crave and invented \u201cselfie stick\u201d. The result is very clear: people love the idea and it has taken Hong Kong by storm. Even after years, the storm is still here. Even though selfie sticks are very handy, it is also dangerous.<\/p>\n
Some people think that as long as people don\u2019t intentionally hit others with selfie sticks, it is very safe. But I disagree with them. Even if you didn\u2019t mean to hit anyone, it\u2019s still very dangerous since there is a chance of hitting others.<\/p>\n
Selfie was named the Oxford dictionary\u2019s word of the year and has proven its going popularity. But I don\u2019t think that’s a good thing.<\/p>\n
