{"id":468,"date":"2010-09-06T14:42:47","date_gmt":"2010-09-06T14:42:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web02.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters2\/archives\/468"},"modified":"2015-05-24T06:53:02","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T06:53:02","slug":"karen-and-lily-a-modern-fable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters\/archives\/468","title":{"rendered":"Karen and Lily \u2013 A Modern Fable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you heard the story of The Fox and The Crow?&nbsp; In the story, the fox wanted to have the very tasty-looking piece of cheese of the crow, so it tricked the crow and got the cheese.&nbsp; The story meant: Be careful when people say nice things about you &ndash; they may be trying to trick you.<br \/>My friend, Karen, was shy of singing because she worried that she would sing badly.&nbsp; During a music lesson once, another friend of mine, Lily, discovered that Karen sang nicely.&nbsp; One day, Lily went to Karen&#39;s home.&nbsp; She encouraged Karen to sing.<br \/>&quot;Karen, I think your singing&rsquo;s not bad but good.&nbsp; Why are you so shy of that?&quot;<br \/>&quot;Don&#39;t trick me.&nbsp; My singing is bad.&quot;<br \/>&quot;I don&#39;t think so.&nbsp; When you sing, try to relax and don&#39;t worry.&nbsp; Can you try once now?&quot;<br \/>Karen sang a little.<br \/>&quot;Good!&nbsp; I enjoy your singing.&nbsp; Can you keep it on?&quot;<br \/>Karen kept on singing and she was braver than before.<br \/>&quot;Well done!&nbsp; You&#39;ve just overcome the difficulty.&quot;&nbsp; Lily smiled.<br \/>Karen was glad.&nbsp; &quot;Yeah!&nbsp; I could overcome my shyness.&nbsp; Thank you, Lily.&quot;&nbsp; She thought.<br \/>See, this story tells us: When somebody says something nice about you, they may not be tricking you.&nbsp; However, they may let you know more about yourself.
