I bet you must have a great time with your classmates.

I’m so sorry to hear in your last letter that you’re struggling hard at school. I’ve also suffered in similar circumstances as I’m a student too. I know that it is so disheartening lagging behind. Yet, your gloomy attitude really worries me. You know, I’m always here to help. I wish to give you some useful advice and also share my experiences.

Now, we’re having more to learn and things are getting more difficult. It’s normal that you can’t comprehend every subject quickly and feel sort of falling behind. You may feel desperate when you can’t follow the teacher. So do I! Sometimes I can do nothing but flip through my textbook aimlessly in the lessons. However, I never hesitate to ask my teachers what I’m puzzled on. After grasping a clearer concept, I’ll do some exercises to consolidate what I’ve learnt. Besides, preparation before lesson and steady revision do help me understand more. I continue and gradually, it works! I then slowly catch up with my classmates.

Another problem is that you are often stressed because you can’t help comparing with others. I also feel ashamed when my neighbors score a higher mark. But we should know that each of us has different abilities and potentials. There’s no point to compare yourself with others. Peer pressure is good to maintain the competitiveness in class and motivate us, but what’s more practical is to try our very best in every single test and piece of homework.

Well, leisure activities are also important to release your stress. You can listen to music, read comics or watch comedies. Enough sleep and healthy diet are both necessary! A refreshed mind can certainly help you memorize more effectively. A healthy body is also needed to cope with our daily work.

Remember? Revise steadily and do preparation; Don’t be score-oriented or over anxious. Don’t worry! You can always count on me. I hope my suggestions could help you get rid of the depression on studies. Let’s work hard together!

Write soon,
Sydney

Dear Peter

How’s your school picnic last Saturday?
