{"id":316,"date":"2009-11-12T10:29:54","date_gmt":"2009-11-12T10:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web02.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters2\/archives\/316"},"modified":"2015-05-24T06:49:58","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T06:49:58","slug":"hong-kong-is-more-a-place-to-leave-than-a-place-to-live-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carmelss.edu.hk\/buddingwriters\/archives\/316","title":{"rendered":"Hong Kong is more a place to leave than a place to live in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pearl of the Orient shines in the world!&nbsp; Its impressive financial development attracts plenty of people.&nbsp; It is also famous for possessing a charming harbour, a brilliant night scene and the name of &lsquo;the shoppers&rsquo; paradise&rsquo;.&nbsp; It is just a piece of cake to get things you need here.&nbsp; It seems that people living in Hong Kong must be the happiest residents all over the world since they have everything they want.&nbsp; However, when you get backstage, the place beyond the spotlight, there comes the dark side of Hong Kong.<br \/>&nbsp;It is claimed that Hong Kong residents enjoy everything they need.&nbsp; However, is this the real case?&nbsp; Actually, the Government does not give sufficient support to her citizens.&nbsp; While Hong Kong seems to be a well-off society, there are people suffering from hunger, poverty and even the lack of a place to live.&nbsp; Recently, an elderly man robbed the shop &lsquo;Seven-Eleven&rsquo; with a knife because he wanted to get into jail.&nbsp; &lsquo;I would rather go into jail because it seems that I can get food and a safe place to live in,&rsquo; said the arrested old man sadly in the court.&nbsp; He used to get help from the Government but then, the Government failed to help him.&nbsp; The old man spent his life in misery and he was a real case of Hong Kong&rsquo;s dark side.&nbsp; Without doubt, this is only a &lsquo;discovered&rsquo; case but not the only case.&nbsp; There are lots of people whose lives are poor.&nbsp; How can we make sure that there will be no more people like the old elderly man above?&nbsp; Although the elderly man was forgiven with the Government paying him money, there are still plenty others crying for helping hands.&nbsp; How can we say the land filled with tragedies is a good place to live in?<br \/>&nbsp;Besides, the Hong Kong Government fails to help the university graduates.&nbsp; Hong Kong teens have been spending decades studying, learning and memorizing all the books.&nbsp; They try their best in examinations, and try to grab the chance with both hands to study in university.&nbsp; Congratulations to all students!&nbsp; You are now at the top of the knowledge ladder.&nbsp; It is believed that studying in university is the quickest way to get an ideal job.&nbsp; Yet it is not the same in today&rsquo;s Hong Kong.&nbsp; A statistic from the Government shows that recently there is an increase of unemployment, especially for graduates.&nbsp; Compared to last year, unemployed graduates tend to be increasing in double.&nbsp; Will it be safe to live in Hong Kong with no income but continuously spending money?&nbsp; How can residents make sure that there will be jobs while even the graduates fail to find one?&nbsp; Without a chance to gain money, how can we say the Pearl of the Orient is a good place to live in?&nbsp; No, the answer is No.&nbsp; With no economic basin, how can we live in the economic and financial centre?<br \/>&nbsp;Beyond doubt, Hong Kong is among the top ten cities in the world that are seriously polluted.&nbsp; We, the Hong Kong citizens, suffer from unclean air, unpleasant noise and unsuccessful plans of improvement.&nbsp; We are often told that our dear Government is working so hard to improve.&nbsp; An example is the project of &lsquo;blue-sky&rsquo;.&nbsp; However, daily detection tells us that this project is a failure in reducing the pollution level.&nbsp; The air here is still disgusting to breathe in and the noise is obviously annoying.&nbsp; You can never link Hong Kong with the word &lsquo;quiet&rsquo;, even at mid-night.&nbsp; If you live in Mongkok or Tsim Sha Tsui, you can be like an owl!&nbsp; You can never sleep at night without earplugs!&nbsp; In a place like this, is it comfortable for us to live?&nbsp; Is this a good place to live in?&nbsp; Under conditions of polluted air and noise, I cannot tell how Hong Kong can be a good place to live in.<br \/>&nbsp;Hong Kong might be named the Pearl of the Orient with cool lighting, varied selections of food and much modern entertainment.&nbsp; However, you have to face insufficient support, unemployment and serious pollution if you choose to live here.&nbsp; It is true that no one would love to suffer from such problems.&nbsp; Therefore, it is obvious that Hong Kong should be a place to leave but not a good place to live in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Pearl of the Orient shines in the world!
