Good morning <\/span>P<\/span>rincipal, teachers and fellow schoolmates,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Here we are, finally. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Who would have thought, 6 years ago, that I would be giving a speech to all of you as the president of the Students\u2019 <\/span>U<\/span>nion.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>At least, not me<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s for sure. When I was preparing for this speech, I wondered what message I should deliver. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>No, I won\u2019t be talking about how I have transformed into such an amazing person <\/span>in these six years<\/span> because there\u2019s nothing to brag about. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>No, I won\u2019t be talking about that. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Instead, my topic is \u201ctime\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I got the inspiration<\/span> by a mere coincidence. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I happened to come across this popular song when I was scrolling through my song list. The lyrics touch<\/span>ed<\/span> my heart, especially the cho<\/span>rus<\/span> about how time can slip away if you don\u2019t make good use of it. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>When I was younger, all I could think of was: <\/span>what<\/span> clich\u00e9! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Now I realize how wrong I was.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that everyone of us, even teachers, remember what it <\/span>was<\/span> like to be a secondary student, like how we tilted our little heads to look at the blackboard, how timid and nervous we were\u2026And then BAM, we\u2019re back. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Six years<\/span> are gone<\/span>. Time does fly. Nobody would disagree with that right? The singer tells us that time waits for no one. It keeps going. The clock keeps ticking.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>When you look at it closely, it goes slower than a snail but when you let your guard down, it flees<\/span>faster than a thief. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The song also reminds us that beauty, wealth, fame or even each and every passing moment <\/span>are<\/span> things that don\u2019t last.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>What we desire, what we grasp, what we <\/span>h<\/span>old dear are most probably things that may pass <\/span>in the <\/span>blink of an eye.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What difference a day makes? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>24 little hours. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Treat every second as a gift. It\u2019s a bonus that we should treasure. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>But how can we use our precious time wisely? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Here\u2019<\/span>re<\/span> a few quotes I have collected that may help<\/span>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>The only time that\u2019s real is here <\/span>and <\/span>now<\/span>\u2019<\/span>, <\/span>\u2018<\/span>Dream as if you\u2019ll live forever; live as if it\u2019s your last day<\/span>\u2019, and <\/span>Mother Teresa<\/span>\u2019s words:<\/span>\u2018<\/span>Yesterday is gone. We have only today. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Let us begin<\/span>\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>There\u2019s <\/span>also <\/span>a verse from Psalm, <\/span>\u2018<\/span>Behold, <\/span>T<\/span>h<\/span>ou<\/span>h<\/span>ast made my days as handbrea<\/span>d<\/span>ths, and my lifetime as nothing in <\/span>T<\/span>hy sight. Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Surely, every man walks about as a phantom; surely they make an uproar for nothing. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>He amasses riches, and does not know who will gather them.<\/span>\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not asking you to regret <\/span>wasting<\/span> time because this is actually wasting time.<\/span>\u00a0 I\u2019<\/span>m asking you to act now. The clock is, and always will be ticking. Treasure your loved ones, your family, your friends, those beside you. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Don\u2019t take them for granted. No one knows what graduation brings but remember: love and memories last, so make good use of them.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Live like there\u2019s no tomorrow because time waits for no one, and he won\u2019t wait for me.
