Dear Tom,<\/span><\/p>\n

Hey pal, how\u2019s it going? It\u2019s been <\/span>nine<\/span> months since you left Hong Kong. I really miss you so much!<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I bet you\u2019re having so much fun in the US. Well, I\u2019ve got to tell you that you\u2019ve missed something awesome in the S4 syllabus! As you know, we\u2019ve to study the Short Stories module in English for the HKDSE. It turns out that it\u2019s much more interesting than I thought!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, the first point. As short stories are short, I can practically finish one in several minutes. Unlike novels, I\u2019ve to spend a few weeks to finish one. Although they\u2019re short, <\/span>the <\/span>good ones can be abundant and brilliant in both contents and skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve learnt a lot of useful skills for short stories writing in the previous lessons. Could you imagine that there are actually so many ways to describe a person, like writing about his appearance, his relationships with others, his behavio<\/span>u<\/span>r, dialogue of the person and others\u2019\u2026There are tons of them! Now I won\u2019t have to stick to the dull method\u00a0<\/span>\u2500\u00a0<\/span>narrating everything\u00a0<\/span>\u2500\u00a0<\/span>anymore! Don\u2019t you laugh at me. I know my writings have always been ridiculously lousy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But guess what? That\u2019s not the most exciting thing. Instead, I enjoy reading famous short stories. Meanwhile, I learn from them the most. I remember that you\u2019re a fan of Roald Dahl, and we\u2019ve read one of his short stories, \u201cThe Leg of Lamb\u201d a few weeks ago. I must say he\u2019s really a freak. How could he possibly write such a brilliant piece in just a couple of pages?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve read this doozy piece. The tense atmosphere is perfectly set, along with the changes of the mood, and the struggles of the woman. I love the ending, which shows how dumb the policemen were. It\u2019s so sarcastic that they EAT the weapon which was used to kill the man themselves! You know they\u2019d never find the weapon! I was so nervous and was willing to know if the woman would be caught. Somehow I felt relieved in the end, just like the woman\u2026 Quite creepy, <\/span>right<\/span>?<\/span><\/p>\n

Aside from that, I\u2019m in love with humorous stories. They\u2019re mostly shorter than other kinds of stories, but never fail to make me laugh! The characters are always witty to make fun of others, or just simply being hilarious. <\/span>N<\/span>o doubt, they give me a better school life <\/span>while <\/span>facing mountains of assignments and endless deadlines.<\/span><\/p>\n
