Good afternoon, teachers and fellow schoolmates.\u00a0 Homosexuality is a hot potato recently. People argue about the introduction of an anti-discrimination law to protect the rights of the sexual minorities.\u00a0 Should the government enact such a law? \u00a0I\u2019d like to share my view on this topic.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think that this law should be approved. \u00a0It is hard to enforce the law because the definition of related offences may be quite vague. \u00a0What are the things that I cannot do or say about the gay or lesbians? \u00a0What actions or sentences are opposing the law? The anti-discrimination law is a little bit different from other laws.\u00a0 For instance, we all know that spitting on the ground in public is breaking the law because there is a clear guideline and definition \u2013 police catch you if you spit. \u00a0However, the police cannot follow us or even listen to our conversation to see if we are discriminating against the homosexuals. \u00a0So I\u2019d like to ask a question, what is the use of adopting a law?<\/p>\n

Also, a law doesn\u2019t really give a big helping hand in stopping the discrimination problems. \u00a0As this topic was a taboo subject before, people lack education about this topic.\u00a0 Quite a number of people are still in denial and don\u2019t accept the homosexuals and the bisexuals. Undeniably, the marriage tradition is that of a man and a woman. This concept is already deeply printed in the people\u2019s mind, especially for the senior generation.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, if the law for protecting the rights of homosexuals is passed, does it mean that a law should also be tailored for the Christians and non-homosexuals?\u00a0 As what the Bible has mentioned, homosexuality is against the Bible.\u00a0 The homosexuals may also discriminate against the Christians.\u00a0 So does it mean that an anti-discrimination law of protecting the rights and belief of Christians should also be passed?\u00a0 For the non-homosexuals, the gays and lesbians may also bully and discriminate against them because of different beliefs and thinking.\u00a0 Following this logic, tons of anti-discrimination laws should be approved but not just for the homosexuals.<\/p>\n
