Do examinations encourage students to learn?<\/span><\/p>\n

There have been a lot of arguments about whether examinations encourage students to learn. In my opinion, examinations do not encourage students to learn. Let me explain why <\/span>in the following.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First of all, exams only encourage rote learning instead of deep learning. Students have not acquired the knowledge by heart and just care about marks. For me, l only studied the night before the exams. After the exams l forgot everything. But l could still get a pas<\/span>s<\/span>. In fact, we just recite something and write <\/span>it<\/span> down on the paper. We cannot apply what we have learnt<\/span> in our daily lives<\/span>. So what is the use of exams?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides, exams give students too much pressure. I will be stressed <\/span>out <\/span>and sweating during exams. If l get a low mark, l will cry and feel down for a month. Some students want to save time for studying. They even do not have breakfast. This seriously affects their physical and mental health. If students cannot withstand their pressure from the exams, how can exams encourage them to learn?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is more, getting bad results in the exams can lower students\u2019 self-esteem. After getting the results of exams, students who do not have a good performance will think that they are useless and do not have any strengths. They may feel lost and do not know what to do next. They may wonder why they do not have a good result even though they have studied so hard. This makes them become afraid of learning new things because they are afraid of failures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some students said that exams can motivate students to learn. But knowledge does not only come from books! We need to let students learn things by themselves such as hiking ,doing group projects and camping. Students can learn things that they like and they will learn them by heart. They will not be forced to learn and are not taught how to get a higher mark. Students will feel happy when they learn things that they are interested in and do not need anyone to push or encourage them.<\/span><\/p>\n
