Sitting on a wall with Lizzy and Stella, I looked at our funeral. We were invisible to every<\/span>one<\/span> except for ourselves, but we weren\u2019t ghosts. We c<\/span>ould<\/span> just become invisible. As for the funeral, we pretended to die in a very serious car crash where our bodies were so squashed that no one would be able to tell that they were only dolls. The reason was for us to become Portal Keepers, people who guard time portals from people who want to use them for their own selfish reasons. The portals could appear anywhere in the past, present or future during the full moon. In any number<\/span>,<\/span>t<\/span>here could be only one portal or as many as a few hundred. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Being Portal Keepers could be very dangerous, but not more dangerous than the adventures we went on before and the job had their ups. We would never get sick or die unless we were injure seriously and could open or close portals, which enable us to visit whatever place we want at anytime. And it would be way better than the life we have now, which, to be frank, is really boring and the people here treat us as freaks just because we had some special powers, even our parents. Who, everybody can see, looks relieve to be rid of us. Not that anybody in the funeral has a trace of sadness on their face, and some of them are even smiling!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A little while later, Lizzy said with contempt, \u2018Let\u2019s go. I can\u2019t bear to look at their faces any longer.\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018There\u2019s nothing left for us to do here.\u2019 Stella agreed coldly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I sighed \u2018It seems that they hate us and are terrified of us, despite of never having done anything to them.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We opened a portal and went back to Greece. We had to help recruit Alexander the Great to become a Portal Keeper. <\/span>It was o<\/span>ur first mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Even if you guys have powers, you still have to be careful.\u2019 David warned.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was one hour before Alexander would die. Usually, we would the person if he or she would like to be a Portal Keeper one day before they die. However, not everyone has hundreds of soldiers guarding their place. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018We know.\u2019 Stella replied.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our plan was to become invisible to sneak inside. Then wait until he was alone to talk to him. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Let\u2019s go.\u2019 I told Lizzy and Stella.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We made ourselves invisible, then tip-toed past the soldiers, trying to avoid bumping into anyone. Finally, we got to his room. Lucky for us, somebody was coming out and we slipped into the room.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

We appeared in front of Alexander. His eyes widen and looked like he was about to scream, but was too weak to.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018 Hi,\u2019 I said nervously \u2018we won\u2019t hurt you, so don\u2019t freak out, OK?\u2019 He nodded.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We had a translator that would translate English into Greek, so he would understand us.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We told him why we came and explained what a Portal Keeper had to do. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018If you agree, drink this. It will give the power you need to become a Portal Keeper.\u2019 I finished.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We waited for his answer. Finally, he nodded. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Stella and Lizzy helped him up and I poured the liquid into his mouth.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He suddenly looked healthy again. Then he read an oath from a piece of paper we gave him that would bind him to the job. We left a doll in his place, made him invisible and crept out the window.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0We quickly made our way back to where David and Natalie were hiding. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When they saw Alexander, their faces broke into identical smiles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018It seems like we don\u2019t have to come as back ups on your next mission.\u2019 Natalie said cheerfully.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Let\u2019s go before anyone finds us,\u2019 David urged \u2018We can talk later.\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He was about to open a portal when some soldiers saw us. Their eyes widen<\/span>ed<\/span> and was about to shout when I froze their vocal cords and tampered with their minds so they will think they saw only rats. Then, made us all invisible.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We held our breaths until the soldiers when away. Then, David quickly opened a portal and we went into in quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018You all made it back safely!\u2019 Josh and Ashley cried when they saw us coming out of the portal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018That was all thanks to Cassie.\u2019 David said and explained what I did.<\/span><\/p>\n
