The front door closed behind us and as the key turned to lock us inside, I smiled nervously at my two friends.  Could we stay on the whole night and win this competition?
Suddenly, a strange noise said,” Welcome to the Good Habitat Of Strange Things House. (Look at the capital letters!)  Young man, you’ll have a night in fear.  Wa ha ha!” It was about twelve midnight.
I looked around the house.  It was very dark, full of dust, a bad smell of something rotten here.  I heard some tiny water droplets falling down somewhere.  My poor friends Sheng and Toru huddled near the door.  Toru was crying, her crying echoed in the house, “Woo……….. Wa ha ha!”  Sheng just prayed calmly.
Toru asked me, “What’ll we do now?” 
I said, “Just take a walk here and find some food.”  I knew that we were all hungry.  Sheng agreed.  I took out some matches from my pocket and grabbed hold of the candles in the dining room on the left of the entrance.  I lit the candles and gave them to Toru and Sheng.  We held the candles tightly and went around the house.  The first floor, nothing.  The second floor, nothing.  The roof space, nothing.  It was too quiet in this house, I felt a bit strange.  We went underground.  There was a laboratory, but still no food there.  We put the candles on the ground and sat in a circle.  We were frustrated.  Suddenly, the clock struck once.  It was one o’clock now.  A wall inside the laboratory was moving.  Some light was flickering from the wall.  There was a secret room there.  We tiptoed inside, and then we saw some treasure there, but I felt that something was behind me.
I turned back.  I saw a knight leading some men there, but they didn’t have any feet.  I screamed!  We ran away from that room, the knight and men chasing us.  Toru fell onto the ground by accident.  The knight didn’t watch its steps and fell down.  The knight’s armour was torn and the men stopped!  Those were robots.   It wasn’t a haunted house after all!  Nothing eerie happened again till the morning.
We went out from that house.  The Master of Ceremony of the competition said we won the game. The prize was that house, an extremely high-tech house.  Robots would serve us forever.  Brilliant!
