I\u2018m Chris Wong and I\u2018m a Form Six student from Happy Secondary School.<\/span><\/p>\n Today, I\u2019m glad to be here to talk to you about the joys of being a teenager in Hong Kong. \u00a0Let me kick off with a question: Does anyone sitting here not feel happy being a teenager in Hong Kong? \u00a0Well, I believe that there\u2019s so much joy to be teens in Hong Kong.<\/span><\/p>\n First, teens in Hong Kong can enjoy the \u201c9-year free education\u201d subsidized by our government. \u00a0You don\u2019t need to pay the school fees but you can enjoy the primary and secondary education. \u00a0Also, don\u2019t forget that the quality of education here in Hong Kong is of \u201cworld-class\u201d standard! \u00a0Our education system is recognized internationally. \u00a0So, when compared to your counterparts who are deprived of good quality education in less developed places, teens like you in Hong Kong are more competitive worldwide and have a more promising future.<\/span><\/p>\n Second, teens in Hong Kong can keep abreast of time and enjoy the high technology electronic gadgets like \u201ciPhone 4S\u201d and \u201ciPad\u201d. \u00a0Doubtless, these names are familiar to all of you, right? \u00a0It\u2019s so common for you to surf the Net on the MTR or when waiting for a bus. \u00a0You can download \u201capps\u201d from iPhones and the downloaded games can entertain you whenever you feel bored. \u00a0Owning the electronic gadgets means you can say goodbye to boredom. \u00a0Moreover, these electronic gadgets shorten the distance between you and the ones sitting next to you. You can ask your neighbours for their Facebook account names and you can then keep reading their updates. \u00a0Isn\u2019t this powerful magical gadget making a great change in your life?<\/span><\/p>\n Let\u2019s not forget about the freedom of expressing your opinions on the Internet. There\u2019re no restrictions on the type of text you can post on the Internet and certainly no \u201cinternet police\u201d to delete your posting. \u00a0You can express your views about the performance of the chief executive. \u00a0You can comment on the policies carried out by the Hong Kong government. \u00a0You can also say something about your personal life. There\u2019s no need to be afraid of the secret police. \u00a0Compared to teens in those countries where censorship is the rule of the day, teens like you in Hong Kong are much more fortunate.<\/span><\/p>\n Moreover, Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city and teens like you can have a taste of different cultures in town. \u00a0At Christmas you can admire western decorations and enjoy Christmas carols. \u00a0You can also celebrate Chinese New Year, get red packets and appreciate lights in auspicious colours everywhere. \u00a0Experiencing different festivities is a wonderful experience for all of you, right?<\/span><\/p>\n Maybe some of you will disagree with me as you can only live in a small cubicle flat and there\u2019s tremendous academic pressure to excel. \u00a0But be thankful always!
