Dear Chris<\/span><\/p>\n

How are you? \u00a0Were the test results you mentioned last time still fine? \u00a0I hope everything\u2019s OK in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

I just had an awful week. \u00a0You know how much I love acting and performing on stage. \u00a0So, I was overjoyed when I heard the news a month ago that my school\u2019s going to hold a talent show this Christmas. \u00a0And there\u2019ll be a play, the well-known \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019! \u00a0Of course, I auditioned for Juliet immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the audition, I had already spent weeks reading the original version written by Shakespeare and watching films. \u00a0These preparations made me so confident about the audition held after school last Monday. \u00a0Seeing so many people waiting outside the music room (where the audition took place), I was stunned. \u00a0I never thought that there were hordes of drama-lovers in my school!!! \u00a0But I was still very sure that my talent was more than enough to impress the judges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, maybe I was a little bit too confident. \u00a0Soon, I found it was a comedian version of \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019 after reading the script for audition. \u00a0That meant it ain\u2019t any traditional version I\u2019ve seen before. \u00a0\u2018Oh, my gosh!\u2019 were the first few words popping out in my mind. \u00a0This was totally out of my expectation. \u00a0Butterflies already couldn\u2019t wait to fly in my stomach.<\/span><\/p>\n

When I stepped in the room, to be honest, my adrenalin rush literally blackened my mind. \u00a0My arms, my legs, even my voice were all shaking. \u00a0When Mrs. Lee, the director of the play, asked me to perform, I choked. \u00a0You know, I lack the sense of humour. \u00a0I had no idea how to make people burst into laughter. \u00a0How could I play a role in a comedy? \u00a0How could I stay confident and calm?<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s more than obvious that I got rejected. \u00a0I was not able to get a role, not even acting as a tree. \u00a0Nobody would like to use an actress who chokes. \u00a0No comedy needs an actress who has no sense of humour. \u00a0When I walked out of the room, I could even hear the judges laughing because of another student\u2019s wonderful performance. \u00a0This laughter was so frustrating, wasn\u2019t it?<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been suffering from depression for days because of that disastrous audition. \u00a0Well, don\u2019t worry. \u00a0You know I always look at the silver linings of dark clouds, instead of just moaning. \u00a0I panicked because I lack experience. \u00a0I don\u2019t know how to deal with something unexpected and I was too sure of my acting talent. \u00a0I should have been more humble and tried my best, but not freaked out. \u00a0I should also learn how to stay calm and sober in this kind of circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides, although I ain\u2019t a veteran actress, I should prepare myself for various genres of drama, not only typical, ordinary romance or tragedy, but also some relaxing, interesting comedy. \u00a0So I\u2019m going to join an acting workshop, organized by the Drama Club. \u00a0I think it\u2019d definitely help me be an all-round actress in the future!<\/span><\/p>\n
